Program Overview
The scientific program of the Pain Medicine Meetings & Workshops addresses the specialty’s practice gaps and underlying educational needs. The program reflects the diversity of subspecialties and the needs and interests of the general anesthesiologist’s practice.

Objectives
After attending the lecture series, poster discussions, workshops and problembased
learning discussions, and studying the syllabus materials provided
participants will:

  • Recognize common clinical problems in acute, chronic and cancer related pain
  • Formulate an adequate patient evaluation plan
  • Describe laboratory investigations that study the mechanisms underlying different pain syndromes
  • Demonstrate current recommendations for the management of pain
  • Evaluate and critically appraise new and evolving chronic pain therapies

Accreditation and Designation
The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine designates this educational activity for up to of 20.15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ASRA CME Mission
The Continuing Medical Education (CME) mission of ASRA shall be to provide physicians, scientists and other health care providers with the opportunities to acquire the knowledge and skills pertinent to regional anesthesia and pain medicine through national and regional meetings, and web-based content. ASRA CME activities will be designed to improve participants’ knowledge, competence and performance in the science and clinical practice of pain medicine and management. Meetings will include refresher course lectures, panel discussions, problem-based learning discussions, workshops and research-focused sessions. Web-based offerings will include consensus guidelines on critical topics, video tutorials and other novel learning opportunities.

Target Audience
This meeting is designed for pain physicians utilizing invasive and non-invasive techniques for pain management.

Individuals involved in pain control, including but not limited to physician assistants, nurses, and scientists working in the basic and clinical science areas will greatly benefit from attending the didactic sessions provided throughout this meeting.

About this Meeting
Topics for this meeting were selected by various methods. Suggestions for topics were derived from evaluations of previous Annual Pain Medicine Meetings & Workshops. These suggestions were discussed by authorities in the field of pain management with educators who attended previous annual meetings and board meetings. The purpose of this annual meeting is to educate and share information that will enable anesthesiology practitioners to provide the highest level of pain management services.
