Donna L. Hammond, PhD
2001 Bonica Lecturer A graduate of State University of New York (BS) and the University of Illinois (PhD), Dr. Hammond is now Professor and Chair of Anesthesia Research at the University of Iowa.
Following the awarding of her Doctorate, she was an NIH Fellow and NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and then joined G.D. Searle as a Research Scientist. Returning to academics, she joined the faculty at the University of Chicago.
Her research interests are many and she is the principal investigator with the National Institute on Drug Abuse on the major studies _ "Opioid Mechanisms of Antinociception" and "Effects of Inflammatory Nociception on Brainstem Neurons".
Much published, she has authored chapters for fifteen books and published some 61 journal articles.
