The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine supports research related to any aspect of local anesthetics and regional anesthesia and their application to surgery, obstetrics and pain control. ASRA also supports research in acute, chronic and cancer pain. High quality outcome based research is currently a high priority focus. |
The ASRA Carl Koller Memorial Research Fund has been increased to a total of $75,000.00 biennially to support clinical and laboratory studies related to any aspect of regional anesthesia and analgesia and their application to surgery. Priority will be given to innovative projects that address patient safety and outcome in regional anesthesia and analgesia. The purpose of the grant is to provide "seed money" to fund anesthesiologists and other researchers who are interested in this field.
The ASRA Chronic Pain Medicine Research Grant aims to promote and facilitate high quality evidence based outcome research in pain medicine. Results of evidence based pain research will guide clinical practice for pain physicians and improve patient health care across the country. This kind of high quality research is needed to evaluate and document the beneficial impact of pain interventions and treatments on patient care. In the absence of objective outcome data, reimbursement to pain physicians may be denied for the service provided.
