Through the technologies and techniques explored in the Northwestern Simulation facility, physicians gain valuable training experience that will ultimately increase their efficiency and effectiveness in providing patient care and ensuring patient safety. The facility houses a 5,200 square-foot-laboratory, which includes an inanimate technical skills laboratory, surgical training suite, and videoconferencing capabilities.

The Northwestern Simulation location is a short walk from the hotel. Exit the hotel main entrance and head north on N. Saint Clair St. toward E. Erie Street. Turn right on E. Erie St then turn left across the Northwestern Memorial Hospital campus. Turn right onto E. Huron Street. The facility is at 240 E. Huron Street

Getting there

Two major airports serve the Chicago area, O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport. O’Hare is located northwest of Chicago, and Midway is located on the south side of Chicago. Both airports are accessible to campus via public transport or car. View driving directions and transportation options:

O’Hare International Airport

By Car:This 19-mile trip will take approximately 30 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on traffic.

  1. The main exit will become I-190 East. Continue on I-90 for two miles.
  2. Take the exit onto I-90 East. Continue on I-90 for 13 miles.
  3. Take the 50B exit to merge onto West Ohio Street.
  4. Turn left at North State Street.
  5. Turn right at East Chicago Avenue. The campus is east of North Michigan Avenue and south of Chicago Avenue

 Public Transit:

  1. Take the CTA Blue Line (Loop) train from O’Hare to the Jackson stop in Chicago’s Loop.
  2. Exit the train and walk one block east on Jackson Boulevard to the Red Line (Howard) train’s Jackson stop.
  3. Take Red Line (Howard) train north to the Chicago stop.
  4. Walk east on Chicago Avenue about half-a-mile until you reach North Michigan Avenue. Refer to the campus maps to find specific locations.

Midway International Airport

By Car:
This 14-mile trip will take approximately 25 minutes.

  1. Head north on Cicero Avenue for three-and-a-half miles.
  2. Turn right onto the Stevenson Expressway/1-55 ramp to Chicago. Continue on I-55 North for five miles.
  3. Take 292A exit for I-90/I-94/Ryan Expressway. Continue on I-90 West for three miles.
  4. Take the 50B exit to merge onto West Ohio Street.
  5. Turn left at North State Street.
  6. Turn right at East Chicago Avenue. The campus is east of North Michigan Avenue and south of Chicago Avenue.

 Public Transit:

  1. Take the CTA Orange Line (Loop) train from Midway to the State/Lake stop in Chicago’s Loop.
  2. Exit the train and transfer to the northbound Red Line (Howard) train.
  3. Take the Red Line train north to the Chicago stop
  4. Walk east on Chicago Avenue about half-a-mile until you reach North Michigan Avenue. Refer to the campus maps to find specific locations.
