RAPM Is the Fifth Highest Cited Anesthesiology Journal

Jun 27, 2018

Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (RAPM) is the fifth highest anesthesiology journal based on the latest Impact Factor ratings, released yesterday by Clarivate Analytics. RAPM’s Impact Factor increased from 3.515 to 4.382.

“It’s a tremendous statement about the high-quality articles and the hard work of our editorial board,” said Editor-in-Chief Marc A. Huntoon, MD. “I’m very proud to be at the helm of such a prestigious and growing journal.”

The higher Impact Factor reflects a time in which there has been a dramatic increase in submissions as well as page counts, noted Dr. Huntoon. The journal is currently published 8 times per year and will increase to 12 times per year in 2019.

The Impact Factors just released are based on 2015 and 2016 citations. The most frequently cited article over that time period was “Interventional Spine and Pain Procedures in Patients on Antiplatelet and Anticoagulant Medications Guidelines” by Narouze, Benzon, Provenzano et al. These guidelines were revised this year. There are 31 journals in the anesthesiology space.
