Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the 44th Annual Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine Meeting taking place April 11-13, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada! We are so excited to have you experience the incredible program we have put together. We have listened to our members and created lectures, interactive sessions, and workshops geared toward the needs of the modern Acute Pain Physician with the best faculty you’ve come to love as well as fresh faces that will be making an impact on our field for many years ahead.

As Acute Pain Physicians, dealing with the Opioid Epidemic is a daily responsibility. We are going to dive into the impact that the opioid epidemic is having on the population and what we, as acute pain physicians, can do to bend the curve! We have brought together leaders to discuss the state of the problem, physicians to describe multimodal anesthetic management and ERAS protocols, and scientists to present alternatives to opioids including cannabinoids, ketamine infusions, and drugs with new pain targets on the horizon.

Regional anesthesia has not been static, either. ASRA is dedicated to continuing a comprehensive experience in upper and lower extremity blocks, but we are also pushing forward with erector spinae blocks, quadratus lumborum blocks, iPack blocks, adductor canal blocks, truncal blocks, PECS blocks, and more!  And for our most experienced attendees, we have Master Classes where they can explore farther than the standard curriculum with leaders in the field. We have incorporated interdisciplinary sessions with pediatric regional anesthesia and obstetric regional anesthesia. We’ve invited orthopedic surgeons to give their perspective on acute pain management and describe advances in outpatient joint surgery. And, we have new sessions on social media and dealing with the information firehose in modern medicine.

We have brought back the Practice Management Portfolio (PMP) to help anesthesiologists learn how to maximize the clinical and financial impact of their acute pain group. We’ve also enhanced the Point of Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) experience for those who have already developed an interest in this field as well as those who are interested in seeing if PoCUS will be their next expedition!

When you combine this engaging program, unmatched faculty, and amazing networking opportunities with one of the most exciting cities in the world, there can be no doubt that the 2019 Spring ASRA meeting is something you can’t miss! We will see you there!

Kind regards,
