    SIG Leadership Roles and Responsibilities 

     

    SIG Chair

    The SIG chair shall serve a two-year term and shall be eligible for appointment to a second two-year period of service. Terms of office shall commence upon conclusion of the Annual Spring Meeting. 

    Roles/Responsibilities of SIG Chair

    • Abide by the Bylaws and polices of ASRA.
    • Develop and monitor the SIG’s goals and objectives.
    • Appoint and oversee the CME, newsletter, webcast, website, and any other liaison positions. 
    • Complete the written evaluation form for appointed liaison positions biannually and annually.
    • Solicit input from SIG officers, liaisons, and membership.
    • Ensure communication with SIG membership at least twice a year.
    • Read all materials distributed to the chair and take appropriate action.
    • Supervise and direct all SIG business in an effective and efficient manner, including chairing the SIG meeting at the ASRA Spring or Fall Meeting.
    • Identify issues, problems, and concerns within the SIG.
    • Complete SIG Annual Report and submit to ASRA office by September 1.
    • Develop a broad base of SIG member participation through delegation.
    • Mentor future SIG leaders.
    • Annually review and update SIG goals.

    SIG Vice-Chair

    The SIG vice-chair shall serve a two-year term and shall be eligible for appointment to a second two-year period of service. Terms of office shall commence upon conclusion of the Annual Spring Meeting. 

    Roles/Responsibilities of SIG Vice-Chair

    • Abide by the Bylaws and polices of ASRA.
    • Assist with developing and monitoring the SIG’s goals and objectives.
    • Oversee the CME, newsletter, webcast, website, and any other liaison positions as directed by the chair.
    • Read all materials distributed to the vice-chair and take appropriate action.
    • Handle all SIG business in an effective and efficient manner, and support the chair as needed.
    • Identify issues, problems, and concerns within the SIG.
    • Assist in completing the SIG Annual Report.
    • Annually review and update SIG goals with the chair. 

    CME Liaison

    This position is appointed by the SIG chair and shall serve a one-year term. The CME liaison will be evaluated annually by the chair, and if performance is acceptable and responsibilities are met, may be reappointed for up to three years of service.

    Roles/Responsibilities of CME Liaison

    • Abide by the bylaws and polices of ASRA.
    • Coordinate submitting panel suggestions, educational content, and meeting faculty to the scientific/education planning committee.
    • Coordinate a monthly quiz question relevant to the SIG that would be sent to members and available on the website.
    • Ensure communication with SIG chair and vice-chair on all necessary items.
    • Read all materials distributed to the CME liaison and take appropriate action.

    Newsletter Liaison

    This position is appointed by the SIG chair and shall serve a one-year term. The newsletter liaison will be evaluated annually by the chair, and if performance is acceptable and responsibilities are met, may be reappointed for up to three years of service.

    Roles/Responsibilities of Newsletter Liaison

    • Abide by the bylaws and policies of ASRA.
    • Coordinate unique SIG articles for ASRA News.
    • Create and or curate content for the SIG newsletter sent to all SIG members at least twice a year. 
    • Ensure communication with SIG chair and vice-chair on all necessary items.
    • Read all materials distributed to the newsletter liaison and take appropriate action.

    Research Liaison (Select SIGs)  

    This position is appointed by the SIG chair and shall serve a one-year term. The research liaison will be evaluated annually by the chair, and if performance is acceptable and responsibilities are met, may be reappointed for up to three years of service.

    Roles/Responsibilities of Research Liaison

    • Abide by the bylaws and policies of ASRA.
    • Gather, develop, and coordinate research ideas relevant to the SIG. 
    • Ensure communication with SIG chair and vice-chair on all necessary items.
    • Read all materials distributed to the research liaison and take appropriate action.

    Social Media Liaison (Select SIGs)

    This position is appointed by the SIG chair and shall serve a one-year term. The social media liaison will be evaluated annually by the chair, and if performance is acceptable and responsibilities are met, may be reappointed for up to three years of service.

    Roles/Responsibilities of Social Media Liaison

    • Abide by the bylaws and policies of ASRA.
    • Actively participate on at least one social media platform (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
    • Adopt a standard hashtag to use for your SIG.
    • Post using the standard hashtag and tag other people, including ASRA, as appropriate.
    • Follow the ASRA SIG social media policies and procedures.*
    • Ensure communication with SIG chair and vice-chair on all necessary items.
    • Read all materials distributed to the social media liaison and take appropriate action.

    * Special interest group (SIG) social media: The leadership of any SIG may decide to incorporate a website and social media liaison within their SIG. Each SIG can adopt their own hashtag to promote the SIG (e.g. #ASRAPoCUSSIG).  Individuals of the SIG leadership, as well as SIG members, are encouraged to use the hashtag when posting ASRA SIG-related content. Individuals should refer to the “Advice for users” section listed above. All content posted by individuals on their own behalf is the responsibility of the posting individual, and ASRA is not liable for this content. If an individual’s post contains information about the Society and official, approved Society products/services, the official ASRA Society social media account may choose to repost or retweet the information. This will be at the discretion of the ASRA staff managing the ASRA social media accounts and under the direction of the executive director.

    SIG-specific social media accounts will not be created for each SIG. SIG leadership cannot create individual SIG accounts to be managed by members of the SIG or use ASRA branding on individually-created posts without written approval from ASRA. 


    Trainee Liaison (Select SIGs)

    This position is appointed by the SIG chair and shall serve a one-year term. The trainee liaison will be evaluated annually by the chair, and if performance is acceptable and responsibilities are met, may be reappointed for up to three years of service.

    Roles/Responsibilities of Trainee Liaison

    • Abide by the bylaws and policies of ASRA.
    • Provide a trainee perspective to the SIG leadership.
    • Develop and promote the SIG to fellow trainee members of ASRA and beyond. 
    • Ensure communication with SIG chair and vice-chair on all necessary items.
    • Read all materials distributed to the trainee liaison and take appropriate action.

    Webcast Liaison

    This position is appointed by the SIG chair and shall serve a one-year term. The webcast liaison will be evaluated annually by the chair, and if performance is acceptable and responsibilities are met, may be reappointed for up to three years of service.

    Roles/Responsibilities of Webcast Liaison

    • Abide by the bylaws and policies of ASRA.
    • Coordinate the production of quarterly webcasts on a relevant SIG topic to be placed on the website and available to members.
    • Ensure communication with SIG chair and vice-chair on all necessary items.
    • Read all materials distributed to the webcast liaison and take appropriate action.

    Website Liaison

    This position is appointed by the SIG chair and shall serve a one-year term. The website liaison will be evaluated annually by the chair, and if performance is acceptable and responsibilities are met, may be reappointed for up to three years of service.

    Roles/Responsibilities of Website Liaison

    • Abide by the bylaws and polices of ASRA.
    • Monitor the SIG's online community in ASRA Connect for updates, questions, and comments, and disperse inquiries to the appropriate person(s).
    • Develop and maintain a repository of key articles for the related SIG webpage.
    • Ensure communication with SIG chair and vice-chair on all necessary items.
    • Read all materials distributed to the website liaison and take appropriate action.
