The Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management fellowship is a 12-month fellowship, tailored to the advanced training in the field of regional anesthesia in a variety of different settings including our county trauma hospital (Eskenazi Hospital), tertiary cancer institution (Indiana University Hospital), pediatric hospital (Riley Hospital for Children) and ambulatory surgery center (IU Health Meridian South Surgery Center).  Fellows will learn and provide a wide variety of peripheral nerve blocks and neuraxial anesthesia using single injection and continuous catheter techniques.  Fellows will also manage pain syndromes using multimodal analgesia while rounding on APS patients and seeing consults. There will be protected research time to allow the fellow to design and implement a research project for presentation at the American Society of Regional Anesthesia annual conference and for publication.  The fellow will have an opportunity to work independently performing general anesthesia to maintain valuable skills.

Fellows will also be part-time faculty instructors at University Hospital and will be eligible to practice general anesthesia independently to maintain valuable general OR anesthesia skills. We anticipate being an ACGME-approved fellowship in the near future, but will not be an ACGME-approved fellowship for this current application cycle.

Optional 0.2 FTE stipend for 1 day/week of independent general anesthesia shift work which is approximately an additional $60k/year.

$2,000 educational fund: can be used for conferences and/or books or other educational material.
