ABA Waives MOCA Requirements for 2020

Mar 25, 2020, 22:10 PM by ASRA

The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) has announced that it will waive the requirements for Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology®, better known as MOCA®, in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a news release, the ABA stated that there is no need to inform the Board if you need to have your requirements waived.

"The ABA recognizes the strains under which you are practicing and wants you to prioritize your time to serve the immediate needs of your practice, your families, and yourself," it said.

Providers are encouraged to continue engaging in learning activities when possible, and resources such as the MOCA Minute® are still available. "We are committed to supporting you with education and practice relevant resources to assist you as you work to provide medical care during these challenging times," the news releases stated, concluding with "Words cannot express our gratitude for the extraordinary service that you have and will continue to provide to our patients and our country – thank you."
