For February’s installment of our Member Spotlight series, we highlight Christopher DiMeo, MD, nominated by Mary Hargett. Since 2005, Dr. DiMeo has been an assistant attending anesthesiologist at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS).

Dr. DiMeo received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is a graduate of the New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical College’s anesthesiology residency program. Following graduation from residency, Dr. DiMeo completed a regional anesthesiology fellowship at HSS in 2004-2005. After fellowship, Dr. DiMeo was invited to join the HSS attending staff.

“I wish to nominate Dr. Christopher DiMeo for the ASRA Pain Medicine Member Spotlight," stated Mary Hargett. "In addition to Dr. DiMeo’s role as an academic leader in our department, he has also served for several years as Director of Technology and Equipment. His responsibilities in that role include attending supervision of our anesthesia technician staff, assessing current equipment needs, evaluating new technology, participating in budgetary decisions, and overseeing all clinical equipment trails."

Dr. DiMeo started HSS’s Cadaver Lab Curriculum program for anesthesiology staff and has taught more than 125 fellows in monthly sessions for more than a decade. He belongs to several medical societies, including the American Society of Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine, the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society for Education in Anesthesia, the Society of Anesthesia and Sleep Medicine, and the American Society of Anesthesiology.

Can you think of an ASRA Pain Medicine colleague doing great things under the radar? Nominate them for the ASRA Pain Medicine Monday Member Spotlight. Through the member spotlight, ASRA Pain Medicine will highlight those members committed to high-quality health care, community support, and the future of regional anesthesia and pain medicine. This includes, but is not limited to, contributions through work, teaching, mentorship, research, community involvement, and or advocacy.

The professional and personal contributions of ASRA Pain Medicine members go beyond many of our expectations. Help us shine a light on the diverse and impactful work of our members.

Nominations will be accepted and highlighted throughout the year. Self-nominations are permitted. Specific attention will be given to those members who haven't been highlighted previously in ASRA Pain Medicine activities.
