Perioperative and Acute Care Ultrasound Education

Aug 29, 2017, 13:51 PM by Mohamed Nour

This webpage is designed by a group of anesthesiologists at several academic institutions  interested in the use of point of care ultrasound (POCUS) for the perioperative and acute care setting.   Its goal is to serve as a free, open-access, site to educate practitioners on how point of care ultrasound can facilitate acute care management, both for adults and pediatrics.  Our  faculty developed a “whole-body” perioperative ultrasound examination that has been validated for its clinical utility in the preoperative setting (pubmed link). The curriculum for this examination, abbreviated FORESIGHT ( (Focused, PeriOperative, Risk, Evaluation, Sonography, Involving, Gastro-Abdominal, Hemodynamic, and Trans-Thoracic ultrasound) has been transitioned to this online learning platform (www.foresightultrasound).  The curriculum highlights the key  aspects of cardiac, pulmonary, abdominal, vascular, neuro, and hemodynamic ultrasound for the perioperative and acute care setting.

We hope to help bring perioperative physicians into the 21st-century with perioperative and acute care point of care ultrasound education. Please take time to explore this webpage and all the education materials.   This website is actively being developed so check back frequently as we are constantly making updates.
