ASRA Pain Medicine Announces New Executive Director
Elizabeth Smith, CAE
The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine Board of Directors is thrilled to announce Elizabeth Smith, CAE, as the Society’s new executive director as of Monday, June 26, 2023.
Ms. Smith will assume responsibilities immediately, following Angie Stengel, MS, CAE, who served as executive director for just under 10 years. The ASRA Pain Medicine Board of Directors conducted a national search and found that Ms. Smith, an internal candidate, exceeded their expectations.
“The Board of Directors is thrilled to promote Elizabeth as our new executive director,” stated Board President David Provenzano, MD. “She will bring a deep commitment to our mission, enthusiasm, great organizational skills, and personal relationships with countless members and industry partners. We feel very lucky to partner with her and look forward to ASRA Pain Medicine’s continued advancement with her at the helm.”
Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan College and is Certified Association Executive (CAE®) credentialed from the CAE Commission of American Society of Association Executives and the Center for Association Leadership. Ms. Smith, who previously served as the director of membership, marketing, and communications, joined ASRA Pain Medicine in 2015.
